Friday Favorites

So, I know today is actually Wednesday, not Friday, but I pushed my normal Friday Favorites post up a few days in preparation of Black Friday.  I’ve found a few sites and stores with great Black Friday deals and am sharing a few things I have my eye on.

Loren Hope

Jewelry company, Loren Hope is offering 20% off everything on their website with the code THANKFULLY.  This is the biggest sale Loren Hope has ever offered.  If you’ve been eyeing some of their pieces like I have, this is the perfect time to snatch them up.

Kate Spade

Crowd favorite, Kate Spade is having a Surprise Sale that extends to Saturday, November 29!!  They’re offering up to 75% off of items.  From past experience Kate Spade items tend to sell out quickly, so my advice is to purchase that item you’ve had your eye on.  You do have to enter your email and zip code to enter the sale, but for up to 75% off on Kate Spade, it’s well worth it.

Sincerely Jules

I found Sincerely Jules on Instagram about a year or so ago and I instantly fell in love with her personal style and her cute graphic tees.  Sincerely Jules is offering up to 60% off tees and sweatshirts starting at 12 a.m. on Friday.

Friday Favorites

Hi friends, I hope everyone has had a wonderful week!  It’s time for this week’s Friday Favorites post.

I absolutely love eye palettes and I definitely love Bobbi Brown.  On a normal day, I don’t really wear eye shadow.  However, on special occasions, I’m all about swiping on a shimmery shade or rocking a smokey eye.  The Warm Eye Palette from Bobbi Brown is perfect for doing just that.  I love that the colors in the palette lend themselves to being played up for a night out or subdued for a pretty day time look.

Lately, I’ve noticed that I keep wearing my same few statement necklaces.  I’ve decided it’s time to add a few new ones to the rotation.  I love The Houston Necklace from BTB Jewelry.  I actually stumbled across this site on Instagram and have been in love with their pieces since.  They have a lot of affordable items and they’re all pieces that you can style in multiple ways.  I dare you to not find something you love on this site.

So, I’ve started thinking about what to wear to Christmas and New Year’s Eve parties and I think I’ve found my outfit.  I’m a dress girl.  I love wearing dresses, no matter how cold it is outside.  Give me a pair of tights and a heavy coat, and I’m set.  I thought I’d switch it up this year.  I love the idea of wearing a fancy top with sleek black pants and a standout pair of heels or a bold clutch.  I’m loving this top from Tibi, but it’s a little pricey.  Don’t worry though, I’ll be checking their website for sales.  I also found this similar top from Wyatt on Blue Fly in a price range that will make bank accounts much happier.

Lately, I’ve been so over carrying a backpack to and from campus.  It’s bulky and not a great fashion statement, but it’s redeeming quality is its functionality.  I often find myself wishing I had a tote to throw all of my school stuff in.  Unfortunately, I don’t travel light, so I’ve yet to find a tote that has as many pockets as my backpack, but I’ve also been thinking ahead.  As a senior in college with plans to move to New York City after graduation in May, I’m thinking about a functional tote to take to work.  This one from Madewell has been on my radar for quite some time.  I love the neutral color (it’s also available in black with tan straps) and it’s easily paired with any outfit.  There’s also an option to get a gold foil or blind imprint personalization stamp on the bag, just to add an extra touch.

Have any items you think I should know about?  Share them with me!

Happy weekend and happy Thanksgiving, friends!

Also, I wanted to give a special birthday shout out and wish my cousin Gemma a happy 13th birthday!!  I hope you have a wonderful day.  Enjoy 13, love you!!

London Calling

“When a man is tired of London, he is tired of life; for there is in London all that life can afford.” — Samuel Johnson

Big Ben and Parliament

Lately, I’ve been feeling a bit nostalgic and have been reminiscing on all that happened in London.  It’s hard to believe that this time last year I was getting all of the last minute details together.  Worrying about how I would fit three months of winter clothing into one suitcase, how I would figure out the Tube, the friends I would make, the tasks I would have at my internship, all seem silly now.  Studying abroad for a semester in London was one of the best decisions I have ever made.  I recommend that everyone do it, no matter the cost.  It will change your life in ways you could never imagine.

Tower Bridge

I somehow managed to get everything over in one suitcase, a most likely over the size limit carry-on and an over-stuffed “purse” that was probably more like the size of legal carry-on bag.  Thanks for turning a blind eye to that Delta, it was much appreciated!   While in London, I interned at Wingfield PR, a fashion PR firm and I learned so much about the industry.  Interning at Wingfield helped to solidify the fact that I wanted a career in fashion.   It also pushed me into pursuing the industry further and in turn, helped me land my following internship at PR Consulting in NYC.

Samford has a house in London called the Daniel House.  I was one of the “lucky” ones who got a room on the sixth floor.  All of the sixth floor girls complained about the hike to our rooms and had a running joke that once you left your room in the morning, you weren’t going back until bed time.  However, I loved the Daniel House and would make that hike up to the sixth floor all over again, if I could.  I’d even take back all of my complaints about the not so great wi-fi, if it meant I could get one more week in London with the friends I studied abroad with.

View of The Shard and City Hall from the top of Tower Bridge

I took several classes while in London, all of which were taught in the parlor room of the house, aside from my internship which counted as a class.  For my art appreciation class, we would visit different museums.  For theatre appreciation we saw a play or musical each week and we took day trips to the University of Cambridge and Edward Jenner’s house for biology.

I absolutely loved everything about studying abroad in London.  I made wonderful friendships, traveled to so many beautiful places, laughed a lot and ate a lot, all of which created so many memories.  I miss it everyday and sometimes, I get sad thinking about the fact that I can always travel back to London, but it will never, ever be the same as my semester abroad.  I can’t recreate those laughs or late night Tube rides with leftover chicken in a bag from Nando’s or walk down the block to Caffe Forum with a friend, but I’ll carry the memories in my heart for a lifetime.

A Taylored Snack – Healthy Yogurt Covered Berries

My roommate and I recently made Greek yogurt covered berries and they turned out surprisingly well, so I thought I’d share with you.  I have a big sweet tooth, especially after dinner.  My roommate would tell you that I usually mention something about how I would love cookies or ice cream or Starbucks about an hour or so after dinner.  Because of this, I try to not keep sweets in our apartment.

IMG_3629We tried raspberries and blueberries and bought 3 individual cups of Dannon Oikos Classic Nonfat Yogurt.  We also added about half of a cup of honey to sweeten the yogurt.  Honestly, I think two cups of the yogurt would have been plenty.  We’re going to be eating this yogurt for the next week.

IMG_3635We used skewers to dip the fruit into the yogurt and placed them on a cookie tray lined with parchment paper.  We then set them in the freezer for two hours.

We found that they keep better if they stay in the freezer.  When taken out, the yogurt quickly melts and they get a little messy.  It’s not quite an on-the-go type snack, but it’s the perfect after dinner sweet tooth cure!  Enjoy!

Friday Favorites

Happy Friday everyone!  It’s finally the weekend and time for this week’s Friday Favorites!  I’ve rounded up a few different things for you that have caught my eye.  Enjoy!

I absolutely love this hat from Anthropologie.  I’m not one to normally wear hats, but I think I really fell in love with them after spending a semester in London.  Floppy hats are staple piece as far as London’s street style is concerned.  Anthro has several really cute ones like this one and this one.  Floppy hats are a great accessory to throw on when perfecting your street style.

My friend Emily recently started her own business called EB Bracelets and I love her pieces!  The Bliss, featured above is my absolute favorite, it’s elegant and eye catching.  I would layer it with several different bracelets to create an arm party.     EB Bracelets hopes to provide a personal touch to your everyday accessories and I think they really do.  They offer engraving on all of their pieces with no additional charge (how great is that?).  I also love how she styles her pieces on the EB Bracelets Instagram, too!

I’m “old school” and still have the iPhone 4s.  Phone cases for any iPhone older than the 5s are hard to come by.  That’s why I fell in love when I found this one on The Everygirl!  Plus it’s got this knockout quote on it, what’s not to love, right?  Keep not settling, ladies.

If you know me even a little, you know that I’m in love with New York City.  When I stumbled across Annawithlove Photography, I loved her photos.  She just recently launched her New York Collection and I’m obsessed!  Her prints would be perfect for a gallery wall or in a cute frame at your desk.  I can’t wait to add a few of her prints to a gallery wall.

What have you seen and loved this week?  Share it with me!  Have a great weekend!

**I love hearing from my readers!  Recently, I’ve had a few tell me that they’ve bought outfits seen or inspired by what they’ve read on the blog.  I love that and I’d love to see your take on different looks.  Send images to me via Twitter (@ATayloredStyle) or email them to me at and you may be featured on the blog!**

Get the Look: Olivia Palermo

I’m a big fan of Olivia Palermo’s style.  She posted this picture to her personal Instagram account in April and I’ve been in search of her outfit since.  I’ve seen this picture featured in magazines, blogs and online articles, all raving about her overalls.  I’ve rounded up a few different options at different price points to help you steal Olivia’s look.

I know that overalls still seem to be a thing of the past, but they’re coming back in a big way. It’s all about how you style them, though. Make sure that they’re tailored to you. Fitted legs look best, as they keep the ensemble looking polished, not sloppy.

Personally, I can’t wait to try overalls again. It’s been awhile since I last rocked a pair at age 6. What do you think of the trend? Is it a look featured in magazines that you think stay in magazines or in the 90’s? Or are you ready to give overalls a try? Let me know your thoughts!

Mesh Shirts

Pajama Party

IMG_3616 The fall weather is officially here to stay!  Along with the fall weather comes the early nights, meaning it’s dark outside by 5:15 and I’m ready for bed by 8.  I’m still adjusting to that time change.  Because it gets dark so early, I feel like I should get cozy on the couch with a cup of coffee, a great candle and the latest issue of my favorite magazine. IMG_3622 While I love a good pajama set, I also like to mix and match separates.  Long sweaters or cardigans are perfect for lounging around and catching up on the latest episode of Scandal or The Mindy Project.  I love this one from GapBody because it’s so versatile.  I’ve worn it to class, shopping with friends and to sleep in. IMG_3613 I’m also a sucker for warm socks.  I have two drawers dedicated to just socks.  I mean I ask for socks for my birthday and love when someone actually gets me a pair!  My feet are always cold.  So cold sometimes, that I put on two pairs of socks when I go to sleep.  I’m constantly searching for winter socks.  Target is a great place to stock up for the season, too. IMG_3607 I love unwinding from a long day by getting cozy in my pajamas with a few good magazines, a great TV show and good smelling candle.  What are some of the things you do to unwind or relax after a long day?
